A prerequisite for this diploma program requires successful completion of CDI College's Massage Therapy program, or equivalent, with prior learning assessment. Dental Assistant Dental Assistance - 5644
Start a rewarding health care career by enrolling in the Dental Assistance program at CDI College. In the Dental Assistance program, you will develop a fundamental understanding of the role of the dental assistant and the broad knowledge base and skill set required to work in this career field. You will study Oral Anatomy, Pharmacology and Lesions and Oral Diseases. You will learn about hygiene and asepsis, oral treatments, and how to work with assorted dental materials.

Health Care Assistants are an invaluable part of the Canadian healthcare system.

Spa Therapy
Spa therapy combines various techniques, including acupressure, shiatsu, stone therapy, aromatherapy, facial and skin treatment, and massage, in order to improve health and stimulate wellness. Spa therapy is offered at many resorts, medical spas, and wellness facilities to those who are recovering from illness or accidents, or for individuals who simply want to improve their health. Spa therapy techniques may be learned at specialized institutions offering massage therapy programs, through holistic health courses, or similar related areas of study. Spa therapy is growing in popularity, and the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics predicts a 20 percent increase in jobs for massage therapists by 2016.
Rehabilitation Therapy Assistant
Rehabilitation assistants work with physiotherapists, occupational therapists, and recreational therapists to aid in the recovery of patients. CDI College's Rehabilitation Assistant (RA) program is for students with a strong interest in human development, including injury, functional movement, human disorders and more.
Graduates of this diploma program have the skills, knowledge, values and behaviours necessary for employment in clinics, hospitals, and rehabilitation centres. Students will study bio-chemistry, body mechanics and systems, anatomy and physiology, therapeutic exercise, and the use of advanced technological equipment.
Students put their knowledge to use in clinical placements in the community. Students are given an opportunity to complete their practicum in whichever specialty field they choose.
Expanded Training in Orthodontics/Scaling
Looking to take your career as a dental assistant to the next level? CDI College's Expanded Training in Orthodontics program trains practicing Certified Dental Assistants and Registered Dental Hygienists in specialized orthodontic treatments and procedures. Students will learn to use the instruments, equipment and accessories used in orthodontics, as well as the various categories of orthodontic treatment.
They will also learn about orthodontic treatments, including orthodontic appliances. In addition, students will also learn to organize, prepare, and perform orthodontic duties such as taking health histories, documentation of procedures and fitting and removal of various appliances.
Once this module has been successfully completed, the student must apply to the College of Dental Surgeons of British Columbia (CDSBC) to have this designation added to their certificate.
This training module is 50 hours in length.
