Kaplan University, the highest ranking school below, will train students through its EMS programs to become emergency medical service workers, EMTs, paramedics, emergency medical technicians, etc. and set them up well for future employment. At present, there are 217,920 people employed as emergency medical technicians and paramedics alone in the US, and their average annual salary is $33,020. Medical and public health social workers make on average $48,340 per year and there are about 133,510 of them employed today according to the US Bureau of Labor Statistics.
